Wordless{ish} Wednesday

It's A Girl - some of the scariest words that have ever been said to me! Why? Because I knew I was bringing my daughter into a world where she would feel pressured to act, look, and think they way society tells her to and because I would constantly need to reinforce her fragile self-esteem and because magazines are now showcasing 10 year old girls like this:

It's an uphill battle when these are the images that are celebrated!

I agree. At 10 I was playing with Barbie dolls, but I had no desire to be one! Thanks for linking up!

When I first saw that photo I showed my oldest son and said I thought it was inappropriate, and he said that if that little girl agreed to it, and her parents agreed to it, it's not wrong. I still disagree. It's setting a bad precedent.

Stop by and link up!

These pictures make me sick and very sad. So very sad, as a 10 year old...where do you go from there?!?!

Oh my gosh, that makes me sick!! And so sad. How in the world are our daughters supposed to have high self esteem, and feel comfortable being modest when that is what's out there? Eek!

I have to wonder about the parents. Really? Don't they realize they're pimping out their kids to sell products for someone who could care less about them and will toss them out as soon as they lose all the sexuality those 10~year~old bodies can muster? *sigh*

Makes me sick...and it doesn't matter if the little girl wants to she is underage and still hasn't learned what is best for her. Her parents, on the other hand, seriously suck at parenting...no wonder our soceity is so screwed up, putting money over morals.

I feel the same way. It is going to be a battle with my daughter too. She is 10 months now; so innocent and sweet! Until she feels too fat, or too short, or her hair is all wrong etc. I am sorry but I dont care how beautiful my daughter is, or how much money someone would pay us, she will never be on the cover of a magazine like that! I find it in poor taste!

Although, girls have pressures to be thin and pretty there are pressures for boys to be athletic, strong, and muscular. All kids need to realize that are perfect just the way they are and not to try to be what they see in magazines. It's all photoshopped anyway!
